A bewitching 27-km stretch of sugar white beaches, sapphire seas, and natural coral barrier that keeps the inlet waters placid. White-sand beaches line the shores for miles, facing a handful of islets such as Guyam "Daku" (Big) and "Gamay" (Small - so small it is an uninhabited white sandbar with 50 coconut trees that can be circled on foot in 10 minutes) some hundred meters away from the onrushing waves of the Pacific. A discovery of foreign surfers and scuba divers. At high tide, tube-like waves from the Pacific can be heard and seen. A perfect destination for surfing during the months of November to January, and island-hopping adventure during March to June.

The pear-shaped Mainit Lake engulfs the municipalities of Mainit and Alegria between Surigao and Butuan. At a certain season, one can admire the purplish blooms of water hyacinths and lilies. Its placid waters is a sanctuary of thousands of wild ducks. This 17,340 hectare body of freshwater is the fourth largest lake in the Philippines. Also site of many waterfalls.
